• This is the land of components, things salvaged. Nothing goes to waste. A dull array of scrap is on display at Northwood Taxi Parts. How do you make good a wreck, put it back together, erase the grind of metal? Here, they know the solution. There are many solutions: Sleep Solutions, Home Furniture Solutions. The ack ack crow appears in the branches of an oak with acid yellow leaves. Next week, the leaves will be gone, the tree will be bare. Heron Property Services is stockpiling enough furniture for a street of bedsits. Those painted metal bedsteads say hospital, orphanage, any place that isn’t home. Vici wonders if there was a tributary that ran the course of the road, which sounds like the mouth of a river – but we can’t find a trace of the Ray, apart from Ray Street in Clerkenwell. Just as we ponder this, a van pulls up with Luxury Minicoaches emblazoned on the side. A gang of men pile out to take a group slash outside Northwood Taxi Parts. Leeds fans on the way to Millwall.
