Photo 3: Flat Iron Square

Flat Iron Square, then and now, dated grunge

Union Street, Southwark, London SE1

• Vici MacDonald on the Flat Iron Square photo: “These faces were fly-posters I found on a hoarding in Flat Iron Square, which in 2001 was a weedy wedge of derelict warehouses in an SE1 backwater. It’s now being smartened up to match the neighbouring Shard, with neat hoardings boding redevelopment rather than decay. I’d still like to know who did the ghostly posters, though.”
